Thanks to the wonders of social media it was a nervous evening trying to follow the Scottish National Road Race Championships from Hamburg. After a short trip into the city to watch some of the UCI World Tour Euroeyes Cyclassics it was eyes to Twitter waiting for as many updates as would come through.
With just under two laps to go a group of 13 was reported off the front of the race with Tom in with the race favourites being confirmed via a video from the feed zone.
Six weeks of hard work post holidays to get to the fittest level yet resulted in Tom taking 10th overall! Delighted that Tom has smashed our season objective of a Top 20 at the Scottish Nationals!
Elgin Cycling Club Time Trials
Sunday also saw The Sherriffston 10TT and Pluscarden Hilly 18TT run by Elgin Cycling Club. Planned in as part of a structured training programme geared towards nailing a 10TT PB before the end of the year, Merv put in a great effort in our first open events working together and got some just reward for the recent hard work, placing:
The Sherriffston 10TT: 16th; 24:45 (1st Handicap)
Pluscarden Hilly 18TT: 9th; 57:16
