Challenge Your Limits

May 22, 2017

After a couple of weeks without an update, primarily due to work and travelling a lot this month so far, we had to make sure to get an update out after some epic rides this weekend from Soper Performance Coaching athletes!

Before we head into the wilderness of some epic Granfondo / Audax style riding, a big shout out to Tom who was racing at the Hugh Dornan Memorial road race on Sunday. A strong effort despite not having the best feelings in the legs, not the result we were after but some fast race miles into the legs and onto the next one!

Tour Series Aberdeen
Looking forward to seeing our Aberdeen based athletes racing at the supporting events in the Aberdeen Tour Series race this coming Thursday afternoon before the top UK pro teams take to the streets in the evening. Best of luck to all the local riders taking part in what we are sure will be a great event!

Nove Colli
Andreas travelled across into Italy to take part in the Nove Colli Granfondo. At 205KM in length and with over 3,5KM in ascent this sportive is dubbed the Queen of the Granfondos. An amazing effort from Andreas completing this in just under 8hrs 20 minutes! Completing Paris - Roubaix and now Nove Colli in under 6 weeks is a fantastic achievement and just reward for some really hard and intense training weeks.

Coast to Coast

Jamie, along with around 60 colleagues from work at BP have been tackling the Coast to Coast challenge over the weekend, riding from Gretna to Aberdeen. Jamie, always keen for a mad challenge, and some colleagues decided to shake it up a little riding the full thing in one day!! They then took the train back to Edinburgh to ride over the next two days with the rest of Team BP.

Day 1: 14hrs 09mins 29secs moving time covering over 373KM at an average speed of 26.4km/h!! Setting off at 0400 Jamie climbed over 3500m as he made his from Gretna, through the borders, into Fife and back up the coast road to Aberdeen in time to catch the last train south!

Day 1 of Jamie's Coast to Coast adventure

Day 2: From the outskirts of Edinburgh back up to Dundee covering another 127KM ride in under 5hrs riding time.

Day 3: By Friday's effort a 'cruise' up the coast road from Dundee to Aberdeen. After over 500KM in the last two days, this was still a massive effort average over 30km/h to cover the 112KM in just under 3hrs 40 minutes!

Jamie and the team from BP have been raising money in this challenge for four different Scottish based charities. If you wish to donate to then please head over to their Virgin Giving page here.
