Sunday saw the Scottish Cycling National 10TT take place in Freuchie, Fife. A planned target for Jamie over the winter and expectations were high for a top 10 result after a number of impressive performances over the last few weeks of racing.
John Archibald took a stunning victory, in a new course record of 19:29 whilst the remainder of the top 10 was covered by just 52 seconds.
Jamie put in a fantastic ride to set a new personal best of 20:46, claiming 8th overall on the day. A great performance and just reward for many months of training up to this event as a season target. Now on to the National 25TT in June!
There were also some great rides from riders we have spent time with on the Scottish Cycling Youth, Junior and Development programmes on the day. Congratulations to Neah Evans, (1st Female 22:18), Jenny Holl (1st Junior Female 24:14), Ellie Park (3rd Junior Female 25:42), Alexander McRae (1st Junior Male 22:11) and Calum Shackley (3rd Junior Male 23:05). It's great to see these riders putting in such strong performances knowing the hard work and dedication they have committed over the months and years.
Outside of the National 10TT a round-up of the weekend action:
Tom picked himself up from an unfortunate get down on Saturday the British Eagle Road Race to finish 4th at the Ythan Road Race on Sunday as part of the lead breakaway group. A good result from Ythan to build on with the road races coming up thick and fast. Also in action at Ythan was Tony who finished in the chasing group taking 16th overall.
Chris was in action at the Spring Classic - Rimovska Sobota; a 105km race in Slovakia where rough roads and bad weather unfortunately caused a split in the bunch with Chris on the wrong side. A solid effort in the latter half of the ride resulted in an overall of 76th and some race miles under the belt.
